From an email from the Wildhearts website:
"Hi,
Here's the promised statement from Ginger in full:
I have been offered the job playing second guitar, as well as helping
write the new album, for The Brides Of Destruction. This does not mean
that The Wildhearts are over, it just means that I am going through a
traumatic time of my life and need a break from being the frontman/chief
in charge.
My spirits are low and my performance as a lead singer would not be
worth the admission fee, believe me. I cannot stop playing music however,
and the offer to join The Brides has come at a time where I desperately
need to concentrate on something to help me cope, both mentally and
emotionally. Tracii and the guys have been so kind to me, and I am more
than grateful for their friendship and encouragement.
If everyone can kindly allow me the time to heal I would be grateful
for the considerate approach to this most unfortunate of times for me. I
trust I can count on the fans for support, as opposed to knee jerk
opinions and malicious gossip.
Thank you, and never take advantage of the love that you have in your
life.
Ginger"
I'm not sure what to make of this statement, but I'll take it at face value and hope the hiatus is not long for the Wildhearts.

What do I take from it? I hate to beat the man if he really is down, but geez, here we go again. Somebody get him a gig on As The World Turns. If it is family based, I am sorry for him. If it is more of his "I bust my ass and nobody respects me like they should" bullshit, well...blah.

From his last line, it sounds like woman trouble.

The last line could be a love of a woman or for the love of music. A post in the Wildhearts list on Yahoo NOBODY in the band knew anything about it. Ginger is the one that cancelled the tour of Japan. I would agree with Carl on the whole "I bust my ass and nobody respects me like they should" veiw point right now. It maybe the right move to get the Wildhearts and Ginger some more respect in the US. Who knows. Maybe Ginger is ADD. He dropped SilverGinger5 pretty damn quick. He dropped his singles collection quick. Clam Abuse was a nice side project that could have turned intresting in time i think. Still think with all the talk about him and Nikki that the Crue would have picked up the Wildhearts as an opening slot. Andybody heard of ticket sales for the Crue tour?

I know the Chicago show is pretty much sold out, but they're curtaining off part of the arena, so "sold out" probably means about 11,000 rather than the 16,000 the arena would normally hold. Still not a bad draw...
Oh, and they sold out New York too, I read that somewhere. Don't know the stage setup for that show, so I'm not sure how many tickets were sold in NY.
I'm sure the tour will do well, from the curiosity/nostalgia factor.

Well......I guess if it makes him happy more power to him.
I hope as well the WIldhearts hiatus isn't a very long one.
Still I'd love to hear what the Brides will sound like with him co-writing with them.

Wow, think about this one:
Mick Mars, so it has been said, won't be able to manage a full tour and probably won't make it in the band for too long. What if this is a stepping stone for Ginger to eventually step in with Motley? I know Nikki isn't in BOD anymore, but this could still be a way of getting Ginger more into the US eyes, and then his name gets out there, so then his joining Crue becomes an acceptable replacement for Mick.
I know, speculation and all, but if Crue is to stay together, and Nikki and Ginger are that close, well then, it would make sense.
Sad thing is, at that point, I would have to stop supporting Ginger.

I suppose it's possible to make some phonecalls
to find out the score, but I guess it'll transpire
why, exactly, he felt he had to do what he had
to do. It is weird, though, to run away from one
band to find solace in another when the motivation
isn't musical. Maybe it's GUT Records he's running
way from and not The Wildhearts. Maybe somebody died.
